What is purge solvent or purge thinner?

Purge solvent is used to flush paint supply lines, colour-change equipment and paint robots. During flushing, it absorbs paint components and other contamination. The resulting mixture is often called contaminated thinner, purge thinner or waste solvent.

When can purge solvent be distilled?

A trial distillation shows which solvent components can be recovered, how contaminants behave and which distillate quality can be achieved. Water, solids, paint components and changing mixtures can affect the process.

Can recovered purge solvent be reused for paint robots?

Yes. At all current Batsch customer installations, the distillate is returned directly to production after initial validation. This direct reuse is a prerequisite for installing the system, not merely a theoretical option.

Batsch does not claim one universal purity specification for all purge streams. The release requirements are defined for the actual robot, colour-change system or cleaning step.

What changes in a Closed Loop?

The SLD is integrated between collection and the validated reuse point. Contaminated solvent is recovered automatically and distillate is returned without separate external treatment, transport or batch handling. Regular sampling and process data monitor the stable circuit.
